Get to Know Karlie
Â
Karlie Holmen is a summa cum laude graduate of Marshall County High School and will begin her studies at Murray State University this fall, pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine. A well-rounded student and leader, Karlie is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FFA, Student Leadership, and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society—recognitions that underscore her commitment to excellence in academics, leadership, and service.
Throughout high school, Karlie balanced rigorous coursework with her love for cheerleading, serving both her school and the MatPack Allstars competitive team. She shines both on and off the field—bringing joy and determination to everything she does, from baking and boating to traveling, hiking, and serving others.
Karlie is a proud two-time state crownholder—winning Miss Kentucky Teen USA 2024, which provided her with an expanded platform to impact her community, and Miss Kentucky Teen All-American 2025, a title that continues to elevate her visibility and leadership opportunities.
These prestigious titles have amplified her voice and broadened her reach, enabling her to inspire young people to step outside their comfort zones and embrace growth. Karlie knows firsthand that meaningful transformation often begins in the moments that challenge us the most.
True
Animal Lover!
Â
Karlie’s life ambition is to become a veterinarian and open her own practice—one that not only treats animals with expert care but also serves the community. She hopes to one day offer monthly free spaying and neutering clinics to help reduce overpopulation and ensure more animals find safe, loving homes.
Her love for animals goes far beyond a career goal. Karlie volunteers regularly at the Marshall County Humane Society, where she walks dogs, cleans kennels, gives baths, hands out treats, and—most importantly—gives her time, presence, and heart to animals who need it most. She actively raises awareness about the adoptable pets at the shelter and speaks out about the importance of spaying and neutering as a compassionate solution to pet overpopulation.

Karlie is also deeply committed to mental health advocacy, especially for teens and young adults. She serves as a Board Member for Sky’s Not the Limit, an organization created in memory of Skyler Holsapple, whose life and struggles with bullying and mental illness inspired a mission to raise awareness, break the stigma, and build a community of support. In addition, Karlie believes in the healing power of animal companionship and often shares how her own time volunteering with shelter animals has helped her navigate life’s stressors. She’s passionate about encouraging others to seek out healthy, heart-centered ways to manage anxiety and emotional challenges.
By combining her work with Sky’s Not the Limit and her love for animals, Karlie is creating a platform that brings comfort, connection, and community together in a powerful way. She is a living example of what happens when we care deeply, serve consistently, and lead with empathy.
